I just finished reading Dude, Did I Steal Your Job? Debugging Indian Computer Programmers, by N. Sivakumar.
N. (probably not Neil or Nathan) has a lot to say, and he does so convincingly and (fortunately for the reader) with humor. It is largely a rebuttal to the trash talk that litters Usenet newsgroups on topics like H1-B visas and Indian programmers.
Not that a rebuttal is needed when someone spews racist idiocy on Usenet; to some extent, you're lowering yourself to their level. On the other hand, I learned quite a bit by reading this book, and it rang true with my experiences in the past couple of decades.
Toward the end of the book, he makes some generalizations when he compares the "average" Indian programmer with the average American programmer. You never see stuff like this in a book . . . I guess that's why he had to self-publish. I didn't agree with some of it, but good for him for having the courage to do that analysis.
I recommend it as a good weekend read and certainly a thought provoker.
